Police SI Recruitment: The Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) has announced the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment for 2025, aiming to fill 933 vacancies across various positions, including Sub-Inspectors of Police, Station Officers (Fire Service), and Assistant Jailors.

Position Details:

  • Sub-Inspector of Police: Responsible for maintaining law and order, preventing and investigating crimes, and ensuring community safety within their jurisdiction.
  • Station Officer (Fire Service): Oversees fire stations, manages firefighting operations, conducts fire safety inspections, and leads rescue missions during emergencies.
  • Assistant Jailor: Assists in the administration of correctional facilities, supervises inmates, ensures security protocols are followed, and manages rehabilitation programs.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Age Limit: Applicants should be between 21 to 25 years of age. Age relaxations are applicable as per government norms for reserved categories.

Selection Process:

  1. Written Examination: Assesses candidates’ knowledge in areas such as General Studies, English, Odia Language, and relevant technical subjects.
  2. Physical Standards Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Evaluates physical fitness through measurements and endurance activities.
  3. Medical Examination: Ensures candidates meet the health standards required for the roles.
  4. Document Verification: Verifies the authenticity of educational qualifications, age, caste certificates, and other relevant documents.

  • Application Fee: General and OBC candidates are required to pay an application fee of ₹285, while SC/ST candidates are exempted from the fee.

Salary Structure:

  • Sub-Inspector of Police: The initial pay scale ranges from ₹45,000 to ₹52,000 per month, along with allowances as per state government norms.
  • Station Officer (Fire Service): Compensation is commensurate with the responsibilities and is aligned with state pay scales.
  • Assistant Jailor: Remuneration is structured according to state government pay matrices for the position.

Job Responsibilities:

    Conduct regular fire safety drills and inspections.
    Maintain firefighting equipment and ensure readiness.
    Educate the public on fire prevention and safety measures.
    Assistant Jailor  Oversee daily operations within the correctional facility.
    Ensure the security and welfare of inmates.
    Implement rehabilitation and educational programs for inmates.
    Maintain records and reports related to inmate activities and facility operations.

Physical Standards:

  • Height:
  • Male: Minimum 168 cm.
  • Female: Minimum 155 cm.
  • Chest (For Male Candidates):
  • Unexpanded: Minimum 79 cm.
  • Expanded: Minimum 84 cm.
  • Weight:
  • Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

  • Male Candidates:
  • Running: 1.6 km in 7 minutes.
  • Long Jump: Minimum 3.66 meters.
  • Female Candidates:
  • Running: 1.6 km in 9 minutes.
  • Long Jump: Minimum 2.77 meters.

Preparation Tips:

  • Syllabus Familiarization: Understand the detailed syllabus for the written examination, focusing on General Studies, English, Odia Language, and technical subjects relevant to the position.
